Whether you choose to go for a day, a week, or even longer, gulet holidays are a great way to explore the Turkish coastline.

If you want to truly make the most out of a visit to the Turkish coastline, a gulet cruise is one of the best ways to do it. These sleek and beautiful wooden sailing vessels provide luxurious accommodation, and the numerous sights of the coast are simply breathtaking. A typical gulet cruise will travel up or down the coastline, stopping off at notable islands, beaches, historical sites and resorts along the way...while leaving plenty of time for swimming, snorkeling, and relaxation on the sun deck.

Many people choose to have gulet holidays, basing themselves entirely aboard one of these ships for a week, a fortnight, or even longer. Others choose to simply do single day trips out from one of the port resorts. But however you decide to do it, make sure you get aboard a gulet as part of your holiday in Turkey – it will undoubtedly be one of the highlights of your trip. Here are some of the options to consider for taking a gulet cruise.

Single Day

Whilst many people choose to take longer trips, there are plenty of gulets that can be chartered for a single day or a half day from places like Fethiye or Kalkan. You can take a trip to some of the islands just off the Turkish coast, go scuba diving at remote dive sights, or just lounge on the sun deck with a glass of wine and a good book! Even if it is just for a day or so, anyone can get out on a gulet during their holiday in Turkey.

Week Long Trips

Of course, plenty of people won t be satisfied with just a single day on the ship – they ll want to make the boat their home for their entire gulet holidays! This is perhaps the most well known kind of gulet cruise, and you can either rent a single cabin on a ship full of other people, or if your family or group of friends is large enough, charter an entire ship to yourself! A longer trip will allow you to have a richer, fuller itinerary, and you ll really be able to plan with the ship s crew to create your perfect, individual gulet holiday. Of course, if you don t enjoy being on ships for long periods of time or want to see more of the sights on mainland Turkey, this kind of trip won t be for you!

Sail and Stay

If you want to spend some serious time relaxing on the beach but also want to do an extended trip on a gulet, there s always the option of doing so called Sail and Stay gulet holidays. This is exactly what it sounds like, being a combination of staying at one of the coastal resorts with a week long gulet cruise coming at the start or the end of your beach holiday. For many, this is the best of both worlds, though of course, plenty of people don t have enough time free to do such a trip!
