Scrap

Discarded projects, falsified hypotheses, and the reusable architecture salvaged from the wreck.

Hypothesis

Motorbike rental shops in Vietnam were struggling with manual paper notebooks and messy messaging apps, and would adopt a modern mobile-first CRM to manage bike fleets and rental agreements.

Falsified Assumption

Paper ledgers and chat threads felt broken to an outside engineer, but to shop owners they were instantaneous, zero-friction, and completely sufficient. Friendly politeness during informal conversations was mistaken for genuine demand.

Cause of Death

Gave an early build to a friend running a rental business. She added a few bikes during setup and abandoned it immediately. Outreach to other operators met identical apathy: absolutely zero interest in changing daily habits.

Takeaway

Never write code based on polite feedback. Test actual user intent to switch workflows before building features.
